James C. Sulecki
James C. Sulecki, author of The Cleveland Rams: The NFL Champs Who Left Too Soon (McFarland, 2016), is the winner of the 2016 Nelson Ross Award from the Professional Football Researchers Association for “outstanding achievement in pro football research and historiography.” He is a long-time business and sports journalist and fourth-generation Clevelander whose family is like so many others in provincial Northeastern Ohio: its deep-seated engagement with the Browns dates to the team’s very founding in 1946. Sulecki tells not only his own family’s story but – through crowdsourcing of Browns’ fans collective memories – that of so many others whose fealty to hometown teams has been taken for granted.
